March Count is Complete.....

and again you continue to amaze me!!!!

25 ladies had finishes for March with a total of .....wait for it.........

 

SIXTY-ONE  (yep, that's 6-1)  FINISHES!!!!!!!

 

blowing me away.....every month...you gals are IN-CRED-I-BLE!!!!

such inspiration....

I've even got a finish for April.....which I must get around to posting about!!! LOL

I've counted right up to Kathleen's post on April 1 (our time), only because it was still March in the US of A.....lucky!!!!!!!!!

 

and  had a giggle with Cathy's post following Kathleen's, only because my hubby has been reminding me to take his 'new' work jeans hems up since last year and now he's resorted to putting them on the end of the couch to remind me to take them up for him.   Each day they've been moved a step closer and closer to my sewing machine....do you think he's trying to give me a 'subtle' hint???

 

I'm sorry Susan, I only saw your comment after I was doing the count......missed this one...must've slipped through the cracks, but there ya go.....sixty one finishes for March....that's about 2 a day!!!!

 

Which also means

our total tally is now  184 finishes to date for 2013

leaving 315 to reach our target of 500 for 2013

that means 35/ month to reach our goal which we're eeeeasily achieving so far!

 

and to boost you girls even more......that means were over 1/3 of the way to achieving our target......and that also means we are well above target!  wheeeeeeeeeeee........

 

YOU GO GIRLS!!!!!!!

My first 2013 Finishes

When I went to post to this blog this week I found it had been so long my name had been removed from the list.  Thankfully Dawn and Wendy let me back in. I will try to post a little more often.  Not that I haven't been sewing I just haven't been finishing much.  I think it's because I don't enjoy the actual quilting part.

Last week I finished applying the binding to two of my UFO quilts.  Both of these quilts were made in 2005 as a BOM at Little Quilts in Atlanta - or as Little Quilts calls it their Second Saturday Sampler.

Both quilts were quilted with the baptist fan using the Quilt EZ boards.
I decided to apply the binding by machine.  The quilts were machine pieced and machine quilted so why not machine binding?

My first April finish

I have been a bit naughty with finishing this one, as the lovely Dawn who co hosts Sew its finished quilted it for me and gave it back to me way back at the beginning of March but I was so slow in getting the binding done. 


All of the little sailboats that make up the quilt were received in the 6 inch block exchange, and I found the cute sail boat fabric to alternate with them.  One lady could not paper piece, so she made me the pretty nautical stars that look almost like a compass and fit in quite well.



The quilting that Dawn did for me is ocean waves, if you look closely you can see them.


I think the anchor binding finishes it off well.  I started this quilt in May 2011 so it certainly counts as a completed UFO.

 I will be giving this to my 3rd eldest grand son Jack as his Big boy bed quilt.  

It will fit nicely onto a single bed.

Pink 'n Pretty

I just loved this range of fabrics, at the time and this little quilt pattern was the best way to showcase them and it lends itself to diagonal machine quilting too which is quick. Another one bites the dust, Yay!!

Not an April Fools joke any more

My first April finish is ready to show.  I juuuust didnt quite get it finished for March - because spending time with the Grandies was much more important.

I started this quilt in a class towards the end of 2006.  I had been doing a paper piecing quilt class (that quilt is also not finished) and at the end the teacher decided to go on to curved paper piecing.  We were to use brights - not something I was used to at the time, so that was a bit hard to cope with.  I assembled the first block as the teacher had in her pattern, and showed it to some friends who were speechless, very obviously because they just couldnt stretch the truth enough to say they thought it was even slightly ok.   Hmmm.  I didnt know if they didnt like the fabrics, the arrangement, the brights, or everything about it.  So I brought it home and put it in the cupboard.

Last month I pulled it out, finished off the blocks and rearranged them before finishing off the quilt.   I have brought the backing fabric over to the front, mitred the corners and stitched it down rather than a traditional binding. The quilting is simple - basically echo quilted but with the quilting lines about 1 inch apart.

Trousers finally up!

I have had these trousers for Mr Fixit, cut and pinned ready to take up for 6 months or more ;-)

Yea! I have a Finish

Boy I finished the binding just in time to claim this as a March finish.
(It is 4:30 pm Central time in the USA, it is still March here )

I had started this quilt some years ago and then put it away.

So last year I finally finish the top and had it quilted

And it again had been waiting for me to pick it up and add the binding.
