My first 2013 finish...

Just squeaking one in for February - a UFO is from last October. One of my then-5-year-old twins started wiggling a tooth and put me in panic-mode to put together a quick tooth pillow. I had my other twin pick out a fabric, cut all the pieces, and sewed the felt pieces together, then it went into a project bag and sat. The twin with a pillow has been able to use his pillow twice - so the other twin is moping a bit. I'm hoping finishing his pillow will lift his spirits. We'll see when he gets home from school today. (That and they have tomorrow off from school for conferences...)
The new one is on the right. The first pillow turned out so skinny, I think I over-widened pillow #2. I still have one more pillow cut and ready to make. I'm hoping to strike a happy medium with that one! Maybe I'll be back next month with another finish! We just moved all 3 boys to twin beds, so I have a lot of quilting/finishing to do!

I'm Taking Credit

This is my first post to the blog and I hope you don't think I'm cheating!  This lovely quilt was made by my daughter Melanie some years ago as you can probably tell by the Prints Charming fabric used.  Melanie has to move interstate and in cleanup mode before the move, she gave the quilt to me.  My friend Evol has a Gamil and quilted it for me and I simply completed the binding.

It looks so bright, fresh and relaxing that I'm sure it will bring joy to the person it will be gifted to!

Hello there! my first finish for 2013

Hi everyone

here is my first finish for 2013 - two hot pads - not much effort needed to finish really,
just a final outer seam, and trim off stray threads ;-)
one has a new home to go to, and the other is in the 'Pressie Basket'.

My 2013 UFO list is HERE unfortunately, it has quite a few items left over from 2012 :(
now to start working on my next finish ;)

My First Finish

I am very excited.  I have my first finish for 2013.
This quilt is for Aussie Hero Quilts and Laundry Bags and has been sent off to a soldier serving on HMAS Toowoomba.

I quilted it with a large zig zag (so it looks like a chevron) and quilted the words "Thank You Aussie" into the mustard stripe.

I am very glad this one is finished.

My First Finish! Whoo Whoo

Finally I have a finish, how good does this feel.
It is though only a small finish but a finish is a finish.
Here is Mickie the Elf.
Bought the pattern a couple of years ago. I have made one previously for mum and my daughter cut out the pieces for this one probably 10 months ago. I had sewn him together all but the head probably about 3 months ago.
So now I can gladly say that Micky is complete with head, dressed and embellished.

My first for 2013

WooHoo my first one for the year. This is a quilt I started 3 years ago, put it aside and then last year finished putting it together. Pam at Sager Creek did the quilting and it is beautifully done

The quilt measures  64 x 82
The pattern is a design of Marilyn McSpadden of Kansas, who had her friend Pam offer this quilt at her shop as a Block of the Month.
I just jumped on it seeing as it's sunflowers, I love sunflowers.
I'll have a few more finishes here in the next couple of the weeks because my little grandsons are coming to visit from California.

My UFO list and first finish

Now, if I say this verrrrrry quietly and quickly it might not seem so bad. I finalised my UFO list, which is here on my blog and there are 50. You really cant see that number can you? No, I thought not.
(Phew!!!!)

I am not even going to pretend that I can get all those finished in 1 year. Not a chance. But for the other years I had made a list of about 12 items, mainly the bigger ones, which I thought should be my priority. No. It didnt work. I finished quite a few UFOs, but not too many from that list. So I figured that this year I would list all I could find or remember about, and then when I cross them off the list I will be able to see that the list is shrinking. Well, that's my theory and I will see if it works.

The good thing is that I have finished ONE item off the list.  I did the embroidery on this when I went for my first embroidery software lesson after buying my embroidery machine. It would have been in 2003 - yes, 10 years ago. That is how long it has been hanging around in my cupboard. It has even moved house with me twice in that time. All I had to do was trim it, sew around it, stuff it and stitch up the opening. How long would that take? Hmmm. 10 minutes. Yes, about that. Maybe 12 minutes if I was in a slow mood.

Anyway, here it is, a small finish, but still a finish
.

my first finish for 2013….I can’t believe it!!!!

I picked up this flimsy at my local Lifeline store last year and it’s been sitting there waiting for a ‘friend’.

018 (Medium)

It was my boss’s 50th birthday over the weekend, and she’s a fanatical dog-lover, so this li’l flimsy found a pal!!!! All it needed was a border, sandwiching, quilting and binding and shazzaaaam! Done!

Now I just have to organise my list!!!… yeowwwww…that’s gonna hurt….and it’s going to take soooooooooome time!  But I’ll get there.

And, I’ve got a design swirling around in my head for a BOM for 2013….still pulling it together but that will be on it’s way soon!
