Just have to put a finish on!!

I'm still progressing with most of my big items - some go back for some time.  But, I am making slow progress, which is better than none.  But this week, I actually finished a cushion.  So here it is:

Just love the colours - although, I don't think they've come up as well as they do in "real life".

My First Big Finish

Way back on the 26th of July 2009 I posted this picture. The birth of my Quilt-as-you-go Log Cabin Quilt for our King size bed.

Here I am 2 years and 5 days later ... very very happy to be sharing a photo of the finished quilt. I added a border to tuck into the bed but it's hanging over the clothes line.

Already on the bed...now to make a new blind and curtains for the room.

This is a shot of the back of the quilt, more pics and the full story blogged here.

Hidden UFO's .....

The other day I was cleaning a shelf and discovered 6 packets containing the pieces of felt Christmas ornaments I had cut out last year...

The pattern is from Homespun Issue 11.7 and these were designed by Lenna Green of Little Green Cottage.....

This weekend I managed to stitch up 3 of them... as they were already cut out and they are quite little it wasn't too hard to do a couple in an evening.....

I was pleased to find some 'little' UFO's to finish off - I seem to only have the big jobs left now.....

Hope you all have a lovely week and manage to get a UFO out the cupboard and finished.

Yay, finish #6

Well, I'm putting this down as finish #6, although it is a BOM, this month I had to do 8 x 12" blocks, which in itself is the size of a small quilt!! Plus, it will give me some satisfaction that I've achieved something. All of those small triangles for the 8 blocks took me absolute ages!

This is part of the Civil War BOM from last year, I was hoping to get it finished for my hubby for last Christmas, but am now aiming for 2012!!

Only took 8 years...

I finally finished this block of the month project, quilted, bound & all!  I started it back in 2003 at my first BOM club ever.  What I learned from finishing this project is how far I have come.

I only had to redo one block because instead of 1/4" seam allowance, I apparently used almost 1/2"!  I also had to put cheater strips around each block so that I could make them all the same size, before putting the sashing on.

I went to my friend's house to use her longarm & really worked on my quilting techniques.  I got really good at doing feathers!

I still have many UFOs to finish, but I just can't resist starting new stuff!

Piece out!

Finish 8, 9 ,10,11

I can show you some projects I finished since my last post ( and it has been a while).
I finished this Schnibbles Paganini, I used the fabric Pure from Moda.

Second I finished this bag for my SIL. I made this bag out of a leather coat which belonged to my MIL. She passed away four years ago. My SIL couldn't throw away the coat. So she asked me to make a bag out of it and so I did.
It wasn't easy, but I (and SIL) am very happy with the result.

And my last finish is this bag from the book from Amy Butler Style stitches.
I'm back to my sewingmachine to finish something.

These are bagorganizers, they were ordered by a cousin and co-workers. They asked me to make them at least a year ago.

Like Majorie I have NO Finishes.
My DH and I are busy on a driving holiday up the North of Western Australia.
I did manage to get some Hexies sewn as DH drives.

Will be back next month to work on some UFOs

Hello Everyone

I just wanted to check in....it's been ages since I had a finish. And it will be sometime before another one,
I am quilting steadily, but nothing that was on my list of UFOs   I  have commissioned quilts to piece and hand quilt; I just finished quilting one for Alberta,,,another to start in a couple of weeks for Halifax... and quilt for England ...of yes; and 2 for Ontario... 2 scrappy tops left that were on the list; so they will be waiting for sometime....

Keep up all the great work; and get those UFOs finished...lol

Rosalie Quinlan Bag

A good friend asked me 18 months ago if I could make her this bag.   I immediately started joining the strips, and after getting a few in the wrong order, I threw it aside in disgust.  But, I dragged it out last week and got busy with my unpicker and have finished it up.
This is Rosalie Quinlan's Angel Pin Carry Bag(minus the Angel Pin) from Homespun No 21.  This is the third time I've made this bag and it's pretty simple to put together(once you get past the strips being joined in the wrong order!)   So that's Number Four finished for me.

Keep up the great work girls, we're not too far away from 200 finishes ................  Nicky

Its small, but it is finished!

I sat down yesterday and completed my small NASCAR quilt I had been working on for over 2 years so I could hang it on my quilt rack in our basement. We are HUGE NASCAR fans and our basement has all our collectibles and memorbilia in it and we lovingly call it the PITS.

So, thats another UFO completed and I am just so happy to be a part of this group and to be motivated to getting things finished!

Pincushion mice

One Christmas one of my friends gave these little mouse pincushions as  gifts.
She then agreed to teach us how to make them, including the hardanger on their backs.
These three little fellows have been sitting in their little box waiting to be completed for over a year, so last night was their night.

It is only a little finish, but they sure were UFOs.

Now they are ready to go to their new homes to be loved and used.

2 More Baby Quilts Completed

I completed this quilt today with a stitch in the ditch and hand tied knots. It is an adorable panel quilt that someone sent me and I picked up some matching flannel for the back and completed it with 2 layers of batting to make it extra cozy for the baby that recieves this!

Here the flannel looks almost an off white but it matches the dark giraffe spots and then it has teeny white pin dots. This will be perfect for either a boy or a girl and feels so nice!

Last week during my computer outage, I was able to complete another baby quilt that also had a jungle theme and came out super adorable. I was able to sell it today so I can have money in my postage account for sending out charity quilts.

This one has quite a few of the same animals on it, however it is an entirely different scene and the colors were muted greens and blues.

So, I have 2 more projects completed, finished my sons top but I am having to wait for more fabric to complete the back. My sewing closet is looking nice and clean and my stash is beginning to thin out.

Hopefully, by 2012 I can start replenishing the old stash with new crisp fabrics!
