I Can Check it Off the List

Remember this block from my original post here on Sew Its Finished.  I was making these Miniature HST blocks but I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with them.  I knew, I wanted to make some sort of wall hanging but needed to come up with a plan and a place to hang it.

Well, it is finally finished and it's even hung on the wall.

This quilt was a first for me.  I have never made a miniature quilt before...and think I liked it.  I might even be hooked.  I might even have to start a little collection.  How much fun would that be?

You can read more about this quilt here and here, and if you are inspired to make one of your own, check out how to make these Miniature HSTs here.

Till next time,

Trying to keep focused

The first step of tackling those UFO's is remembring which I have. I'm thinking about them while busy with my current christmasproject Kerstwensen (Christmanswhishes in English). Having spread that one out over the couch to review it, look what happend while I was away for a moment...

My dear Pippi Longstocking got my Fig Tree Manor top out of the wardrobe (it needs ironing now). I really want to finish this one, though it has been in a box for a year and all I have to do is put on the top border so the quilt is finished and I can make the sandwich and start quilting. Somehow I tend to put that of.

If you think that Pippi helps a lot, you got it wrong. She's got to much energy and must run around a lot, she doesn't have enough patience for quilting. What a pity!

She just asked me if she could get a doll's quilt. Since I try not to start a new project before Februari I suddely remembered that I had started a doll's quilt with the leftovers of the Fig Tree Manor quilt. She can have that one, once finished.

At the moment I'm working on my christmasproject, I noticed that once I had put away a project, it is somehow difficult to restart it. I'm trying to keep focused and this blog helps a lot!

P.S. Since I'm Dutch, I would appriciate it if you would correct any mistakes I make writing English. I like to learn !

A Girl Makes a List

Hi, my name is Ann from A Girl in Paradise.  Like many of you I have some UFO's and countless other projects I would like to try swirling around in my head.  I dream big but I have been known to have crafter's ADD and bounce from project to the next.  It is very hard to stick to a "To Do List" when inspiration strikes.  Unfortunately, inspiration usually strikes in the most inopportune time like when I'm sleeping or driving.  So, I like to create while things are still fresh in my mind before the thought goes away forever.  Never to be seen again.

Since I am not much of a list maker I'll keep this simple...

Finish hand quilting my 2010 scrap quilt.

My Apple Core quilt that I plan on doing completely by hand.  That's right ladies I am kicking it old school.  :)  There is lots to be done on this one.

HST Wall Hanging.  I have been making these Miniature HST blocks and I would like to put them together as some sort of wall hanging.  Still need to work out the details on that, but for now I'll keep putting the blocks together.

Then of course there the project that I would like to tackle this year....

A memory quilt for my oldest son, made from his baby clothes.
A 2011 scrap quilt.  I love the idea of taking your scraps from the year and putting them into a quilt.
A robot quilt.  I have this idea swirling around in my brain and would like to see it come to fruition.

So, I will be joining Dawn and Wendy in their challenge to get my UFO's to a manageable size before the year is through.  I have prioritised and posted a list on the sidebar of my blog, A Girl in Paradise.

I can't wait to check out all that you have going on, and a big thanks to Dawn and Wendy for putting this blog together.  What a get way to get to know one another and get the inspriation we need to finish those UFO's.

Till next time...
