I have finished stitching on this jelly roll quilt which I have named pink liquorice.
It is make with the shades of black jelly roll, along with some pink and white from my stash. Simple to make with only two blocks used in the design. Sometimes the simpler quilts can be the most striking.
I also got to practice my feathers on the quilting of this one.
Another one to tick of the UFO list....

Lemon liquorice
That is the name I have given to this quilt made with block collected from swaps in Quilting block swaps Australia.
I started saving these blocks in March 2012, and still have a number of star blocks in this colour range which I plan to continue collecting to make a starry version.

Henrietta’s Whiskers completed
This appliqué and stitchery quilt was a free BOM by Bunny Hill designs that I started some time early in 2011. I actually completed the top mid last year but never got around to turning the flimsy into a quilt – but it was on my TO DO list for this year, and as a promise to myself I can only start a new quilt if I finish one of my UFO’s.
This quilt is made in autumn colours in keeping with the theme of the quilt – squirrels and crows and pumpkins. I used a mixture of French General and thimbleberry fabrics with a mix of some others in my stash.
Now I can cross this off my UFO list – YAY

Two finishes to start the month.
I admired this cushion on a friends blog so she sent me the pattern, and I made one for me, and one for mum
I found the large ric rac challenging to work with to say the least which is why the second cushion ended up with some lace trim instead. I am still happy with how they both look, a great way to use up scraps, but has not made the slightest dent in my scrap baskets.

A quick finish–that took 12 months
In January 2012 I signed up for the Pond House BOM at my LPS, but after completing block one I decided that this quilt was not for me so I cancelled.
For the past 12 months the centre block has been sitting pinned to my design wall waiting for some inspiration. My initial idea was to make it into a bolster cushion or something similar.
Yesterday afternoon I had my mini version of FNSI and started cutting up scraps in similar colour ways to the block. Then today I added a border, quilted it in an all over loopy design and wholla, I have a new table runner.

A little finish
This is not a UFO, but a project started last week and completed last night, but it still is a finish.
I am playing along with Cheryll in her Initial heart swap and this is the heart I am sending to my partner.
As my name starts with an S and my guess so does a lot of other ladies playing in the swap they will have to wait and see who its for.
I had fun making this pretty little project

First finish of 2013–Wagon wheel
This quilt was started in about October last year as my step daughter is expecting a little boy in February. He does not have a name yet, but at least he has a little quilt to keep him warm.
Its made in the Scoot fabric range and quilted in an all over stipple. I finished stitching the binding on tonight while I watched the cricket.

Teddy bear quilt
Some friends are expecting their first baby in August, and we dont know if its a little boy or girl. I am loving the raspberry reds with aqua blue that are around at the moment so I chose this colour palette as I think it works well for a boy or girl
Its a perfect size for a cot quilt or floor play rug, and I have put a hanging sleeve on the back in case mum and dad decide to use it as a wall hanging in the nursery

Two little projects
Rather than just working on big projects last weekend I started and completed two little projects
The first one is slippers, that I was planning to give to mum for Mothers Day, but the lining is a bit loose, and now I know what I am doing I will make a better pair for mum
But not bad for my first effort at footwear.
The second is a simple little card purse from a pattern I received as a gift for my Birthday this month. This was so quick and easy to make I plan on doing a few more as little tuck in gifts.

Its nice to get a couple of little projects done isn't it.

Leo's BIG boy bed quilt
My darling grand son Leo turns 2 on May 6th, and he gets to go into a BIG boy bed. So Nana Sue had to make him a new quilt for that. Of course I made it to fit nicely on a single bed.
Its a simple square in a square pattern with the block centres being animals from a panel that I had in my stash for many years. The bulk of the quilt is made using 10 little things range, perfect for little boys.
I quilted it in the ditch around each block and stipple on the borders. The background is a soft blue with all over stars.
