I finally have a UFO done !!!

I purchased this kit a year ago. I started it as soon as I received it and put it away as soon as I realized I'd put the fusible webbing on the right side of the fabric instead of the wrong. I was so frustrated that I just set it aside. Well, after a success week of Vacation Bible School crafts, I needed a quick (relatively speaking) project for myself. This has been sitting on the corner of the cutting table just waiting for me and this week was it's time. Not perfect, but I still love it and can move on to something else.

Happy stitching and congratulations to all the finishes this year. These are some gorgeous and amazing finishes !!!

Some baby quilts

Gosh it's been a long time since I have shared anything in here. In fact I don't seem to blog much at all these says. This does not mean that I have not been keeping busy.
Babies are on my agenda, with two baby quilt finishes this month. The first one for a workmate having a little boy, she is decorating the nursery in yellow grey and white, but who could resist a pop of aqua.
The second one is for another workmate due in November but she is not sharing her discovery of the baby's sex, so it's unisex. I had fun making this quilt and plan to do a few more, they are great for using left over jelly roll strips, this one is in scrumptious.
Apologies for my shadow on the pic, it's hard to get a good photo on these dreary days.

First UFO finish for 2014

I knocked so many UFOs out in 2012 with the help of everyone here that there isn't all that much left lol. So here is a finish that I started in 2012: Fireworks, a pattern by Lee from Freshly Pieced (though I pieced and not paper-pieced it).

The fabric is Malka Dubrowski and Kona, batting cotton, and all threads are Aurifil 50wt. On the back I pieced leftover strips (plus a few additions from my stack) in between some off-white material I bought at Ikea in Germany last year. I am especially thankful for the the donation of a matching print for top and bottom from my friend Suz from All the Good Ones are Taken!!! It will go to it's intended recipient in August for a round birthday :) If you would like to know more about the journey of this quilt, come and visit here.

 Happy Sewing!!!

DONE.... DONE... DONE!!!!

I did it!

A massive UFO DONE!

I can't even remember when I started my Dresden Plate Quilt, but it was easily 3-4 years ago!

I'm just so THRILLED to get it finished.

I haven't even pulled out the gathering threads yet!  I was just so excited to have actually finished it.  AND I made matching, quilted pillowcases too.
I'm making another pair tonight in a different design.

This project has been like an Albatross around my neck.

Every time I started something new, I would get this guilty feeling about my Dresden Plate quilt.

Now I'm free to finish a few other LITTLE  projects and do some new ones as well.

I'm so happy!

Who else has had some really good finishes lately?  It would appear there isn't too much activity going on here now?

Right... bye for now.

BATIKS USED

A few years ago I cut up heaps of batik strips for bag making, and I made lots of lovey bags.
But I had a lot of the strips left over.

I found a use for them!
18 days ago I decided to make a Queen sized quilt for my eldest son, who was returning home to New Zealand,  from Australia.
I knew he would feel the cold.

This is what I made him:

I am calling it The Fern Quilt, because it has a Kiwi inspired fern.

I'm very proud of it.  It was the first time I had done Prairie Points too.  They were a nice touch.  I have stitched them down on the pillowcases.

I hope everyone is busy sewing?

ONWARD!
