‘Seasons Of ’ BOM and a new BOM for 2013

Hi girls,

remember we told you that we had some surprises in store this year??

Well, if you missed out on some of the blocks from our ‘Seasons Of” BOM, you have another way of getting them!

Dawn and I will be releasing the blocks on our blogs each month, under the guise of…..

Being Australia Day yesterday, we thought we’d release the first block (the summer one, at the beach),  and seeing as it was one I designed, it will be on my block HERE. 

Next month it will be Dawn’s block, so you’ll find it on her blog and we’ll be releasing each block on the 10TH OF EACH MONTH…..don’t worry if you don’t remember…we’ll remind you!

So grab the button, add it to your sidebar  to remind you…and to let others know, and stitch along…we can’t wait to see your finished versions.

Mine’s still at flimsy stage…..well, I’ve sandwiched it and it’s ready for quilting but that’s where it sits at the moment, but I can show you what it will ‘sort of’ look like finished!

That will give some of you girls a UFO to go on with, especially those of you who only have a ‘couple’ of UFOs and don’t know how you’ll keep going all year!!!! (giggling under my breath!!) After all, this is a BOM from LAST year, so I think it should qualify, don’t you???

Now, our BOM for 2013 will follow the same routine as ‘Seasons Of..” did last year.

So, housekeeping first……

to get a block, you must have finished at least one of your UFO’s for the month and posted about it on our blog by the last day of the month.

after the count of finishes has been tallied for  month, Dawn and I will send you a copy of the block of the month for that month.  A new month, a new block, so we continue all year around.  If you miss a month of UFOing, you miss that month’s block….so it’s a good idea to plan your finishes so you can get each month’s blocks.   In December, you will receive the finishing instructions with the last block.

Now, I guess you want some more info as to what it is you’ll be getting????

Well……..this year our BOM is a pieced and stitchery only BOM (no applique) called “A Year Full of Blooms”…..each month will be a stitchery block of the birth flower of the month….now I know, after much research, that birth flowers vary from country to country so I’ve gone with the consensus.

The Season of Winter

Just loved stitching this pretty little snowflake while sitting toasty warm in front of the TV....thankyou :)

I'm trying NOT to buy any more yarn until I use up what I have in my stash. I purchased 4 balls of net yarn last year and this month I finally knitted the last one.

Seasons Of Block ~ May

I quickly got to stitching this one and had it finished in the first week of June. Now it's taken me this long to find time to share it.

I'm still knitting away at a UFO Scarf for my June finish ... 10 days left so I'm hopeful but it seems to be eating up the balls of wool and not growing.

'Seasons Of' April Block

I'm loving these sweet little blocks that Dawn and Wendy are kindly sharing with us.

Seasons Of ~ Block 2

This afternoon I found time to put the finishing stitches in "Seasons Of" - block 2 designed by Dawn.

Thankyou Dawn and Wendy for these pretty designs and the motivation to have a finish. I know what I would like to finish for March ... just have to find it :)

Block 1 ~ Seasons Of

I finally found some threads to match my fabrics and got stitching on the first block.

Block 2 has the borders sewn and stitchery traced ready for threads. Thankyou Wendy and Dawn for these beautiful incentives ... my only dilema is 'what do I have that I can get finished for March?'

Block 2 “Seasons of…..”

February’s finishers will have already received their gift of the second block of “Seasons of…” 

Last month was Dawn’s month to design, so I spent the afternoon in front of the telly stitching it up.

It’s a gorgeous little design, don’t you think?  Full of flowers and hearts….very Valentine-ish..….she’s such a talented gal! 

Next month it’s back to my turn to design and I have a little St Paddy’s magic in mind!  Have to wait and see!!!

Keep up the fantastic effort on the finishes……58 for February which was sensational, seeing it was a shorter month (even though it had an extra day!!!)

Now, if only I could keep up with you all!!!!!

Our Surprise for you….revealed!!!!!

Hi Ladies,

remember I told you that Dawn and I had been chatting and we have a surprise for each of you, and that you’d better get onto finishing at least one UFO by the end of the month????

Well................ we can reveal a monthly ‘reward’ if you like, for each of you that complete at least one UFO by the last day of a month. Whether your finish is big, little; old, a bit newer (but not new!); one or many, it will qualify you to receive our gift for the month. Yes, you ARE hearing reading correctly.......you WILL receive a gift EACH month you complete an outstanding UFO that must be from last year or before.

How are we going to do that, you may ask?

Well.....Dawn and I have been thinking long and hard and thought you guys could do with some rewarding for all the hard work you’ve been putting in ..... delving into those piles of ufo’s so, between us, we will be designing a “Seasons of “ BOM for Sew It’s Finishers, but only if you blog about a UFO finish from your list on the SIF blog by the end of the month . Each month there will be a new design for a block which will be in both stitchery and appliqué format and then on the twelfth month you will receive finishing instructions to complete your quilt.

Remember, no completed ufos for the month = no block!...sorry, but we need to encourage you to get those oldies out of the cupboard!!!!

We would be more than happy to see progress photos of your gift blocks on the SIF blog too.....I know...we’re sneaky but we want to keep inspiring and encouraging as many of you to finish your older UFO’s so that you want to get our gifties each month!!!

So.....let’s get to it....you have just over a week to go before the first gifts are sent out...so make sure you have a finish posted by then.

Hint: If you’re worried you’ll miss out, work on a small finish this month so that you can squeeeeeeeze it in before next week!
