A little finish

At the beginning of the year I decided to play along with a Pay it forward and this is the first of my Pay it forward gifts.  Using a Twirl charm pack I made a bright and fun patio cushion, thought it would brighten up some ones room as we head into winter.

Here is my finished Brick Quilt.  Made from Strawberry Fields and Bella Solid White it contains 363 bricks and measures 78" square.

I almost gave up with 10 rows to go but I'm glad I hung in there.  It's off to be quilted tomorrow.

I've been finishing and not posting =(

For some reason, it seems that I don't get posts
and pictures to this blog and I'm going to try to
do better....I promise.

Jan finish
This was a kit that one of our local quilt shops
calls "BIG DADDY".  It's all 8.5" squares.  It went
together really quick.  I've made several tops of  this
same "pattern".

Feb finish....
It's a stack and slash method.  Each big block is
4 stack-slash blocks put together.  This was a quilt
that I started...... ummm, probably 7 years ago.  I dug
it out and decided to just.... get 'er done.  It's all flannel
=======

March finishes

These are both just small baby quilts made to
practice working with my Innova long-arm.
The top one is all flannel.  The bottom one is
cotton "fancy kitties" and flannel back the same
as the binding.

Okay, I'm gonna try to be better this month.
I will post as soon as I finish....something =P

#4 Finished

It is a cool snowy Easter Sunday here in New Brunswick. We have had late spring like weather; and all of a sudden last night we got hit...lol.  But it will melt quickly, I hope!
It has taken me longer than usual to finish this quilt, been spring cleaning and working outside in the yard; til now.

But; alas, Blueberry Basket is finished:  I forgot to take a pic of the back, but you can see from the turned up corner that it is white tone on tone; same as the borders. All hand quilted..in the ditch and lattice in the center. The borders are template patterns.

So; one more UFO out of the way. I have 2 left; but won't be done for sometime now. I need to work on commissioned quilts. So have fun; I'll be checking in to see what you are doing...lol.

A Finish

Not often I get a finish on the first day of the month!

This was a Moda Project using Spring Fling. I had the kit in my cupboard for about 2 years. Finally decided this year that it would be at the top of my "get some things completed" list. I'd been told it was a quick and easy project. And it was until I realised the ruler I was using for the outer sashing was 12 inches and not 12 1/2!

So with some new fabric that blended quite well, I recommenced.

Finally yesterday the basting was done, quilted - just a simple in the ditch - binding done. Even the label.

This is going to be a year of finishing!

No April Fools!

This quilt REALLY was done yesterday...Scout's honor!  I had about 20" give or take, on the binding to hand sew down when we got a call that my MIL was taken by squad to the ER.  She's 80 and a post polio victim, so does not get around very well. She had fallen, and hit her face on on something on the way to the floor.  Fortunately, she did not break any bones. But had a nasty gash on her forehead that required 20 stitches and her whole face is tore up with little abrasions (we are thinking from the carpet tearing her fragile skin?).  Anyway, we got home about 11:30 last night and I finished up the quilt, but was too tired to take photos and post it.  So..does that count?  :)

ABC quilt for Grandma Sue
Anyway, this was made for a friend who has waited SO long to be a Grandma and she finally gets her wish!  She's about 10 years older than me, yet I have 6 grandkids and 1 that is 11!  So needless to say, she has been anxious.  I dug out these blocks that I did a few years ago and never finished and added some pink sashing (yep, she's having a granddaughter) and a fun bright print for the border to finish it up.

Have a great week...loving this spring weather!
