Last year I splurged out and bought some TOTALLY GORGEOUS FABRIC to make myself a new quilt. I had to 'pay it off' over a few weeks, but I just fell in love with the colours and patterns and had to buy it.
My problem now is I'm too scared to touch in .. in case I choose the 'wrong' sort of pattern/design to make the most of the fabric!
So I'm here asking you all... WHAT DO YOU THINK would be a good pattern to make a KING size quilt with using this fabric???
And please bear in mind I'm no expert on quilts! but I do like to try new things.
ABOVE: the fabric in question. There's a metre of each of the front fabrics and 2 metres of the dark blue one at the back.
I love love love blues! Can ya tell?
I don't want this fabric to continue being a UFO... well in fact it's an unstarted UFO if there is such a thing! lol
ONWARD... looking forward to some bright ideas PLEASE...

Nice fabrics and you have a nice amount to play with. What about a Whack n' stack quilt, or a turning twenty...Ok my mind is wondering....!!
Ooooh, such a LOVELY fabric, indeed !
Would it be mine (if only! ;>) no doubt I'd go for an "Ocean Waves" pattern... or maybe for the "Broken Dishes" one, as your fabrics remind me of those gorgeous Dutch china dishes...
Hope this will help you a little.
HAVE FUN ! This will be a GREAT quilt ;>)

Lovely fabric!! How about a Log Cabin? You have enough lights and darks there and with the log cabin design, it is so versatile.

I'm thinking a turning twenty quilt too.....they're easy and quick and look amazing when finished!
and yes....the blues are lovely!!!
sugary hugs XXX
Hi Chris....the fabric is gorgeous....I would do the Log Cabin or The Giant Dahlia...but you would have to check on the amount of fabric for that one...it would be beautiful....
Oh Chris, how lovely! I'm a blue fan as well. I think for me I would make something that reflects your personality. You seem (if I'm wrong don't be offended) to be a bit off the wall. You like different. So I think you might like the "Spider Web" or "String Quilt" See Bonnie's site http://www.quiltville.com/ . She has alot of cool quilts that I think you could make.

Wanda: nope I'm not offended... I DO LIKE things that are different! I will check out those sites and thanks.
I just love hexagons so I would do rosettes with the lighter fabrics and use the dark as the path between them. You could largish ones so it wouldn't take so long. I think the fabrics are just gorgeous
Lynette: I have never done a 'hexagon' and have no idea what a rosette is either! And a 'path' between them? do you have a photo of that so I can see what you are talking about? Ta.
Oh lovely colors and prints! It will be fun to hear what you decide to do! I am intrigued by some of the patterns suggested and will have to look them up...like what a Turning twenty is or a giant Dahlia or Broken dishes... oh so many possibilities!
Blessings & Aloha!
