Can’t wipe the grin off my dial !

Well it happened!!!  We did it......
We reached, and even surpassed our goal of 500 finishes for the year.....BEFORE the end of the year!!!!
WOOHOOOOOOO!!!!
*insert happy dance here*

We’re  so proud of you gals......you did it.
We had 75 finishes last month
which took us to a total of 518 finishes by the end of November!!!  With still a month to go!!!!!
Now I must remember to contain my excitement and give my apologies for a very late block posting to our November finishers.....Christmas goodies and magazine contributions took up more space in life than I’d planned (along with the general run-of-the-mill stuff!)
But here is October's block for those of you who had finishes.....

and I’ve finished December’s block and that will be posted with the finishing directions for the BOM quilt at the end of the month….I’m working on piecing it together now.

So girls, look out in your inbox for the November block…I’ll be sending them out this afternoon.

Let’s see how many we can get done for December……perhaps a 600 finish????  (We’re cheeky aren’t we???)

Bom block for November

Hi Girls....

Sorry for the delay....numerous visits to doctors and specialists all over the state has taken up most of my time this month and last already!!!

Nice to know my son takes after me in 'some' fashion.....even if it is the "constant need for medical attention" side!!!! It started with a fracture in his wrist and now a torn ligament in his wrist, tomorrow is surgery to remove his wisdom teeth (not so wise!!!) and last Friday we flew to Brisbane to see a specialist about an eye issue he's had for a while now, to find he has confirmed keratoconus which means we have to fly down again in February to have a relatively new procedure done called corneal collagen cross-linking, where they scrape back the corneal tissue and place specifically formulated eye drops containing riboflavin (vitamin B2) on the cornea, and then activate them by a special light to strengthen the connective tissue (collagen) within the eye ....apparently the specialist equates the first night after having it done to childbirth....I'm not looking forward to spending this night with my 18 year old son, that's for sure!!!!

Anyhoo.....that's yet to come....I'm sure you'll hear us from wherever you are!!!!!.....

November's block was a no-brainer for me......I thought...what is the most significant Aussie thing that happens in November??? First thing that comes to mind???......Melbourne Cup!

I hope you like it!!....I really enjoyed designing this one for you.

Although there were only 12 finishes this month....it still took us to 367 finishes....I'm figuring everyone was more intent on getting Christmas swaps and gifts sorted than worrying about UFOs! But now we have a little bit of time, I'm still confident we can reach our goal of 500...or maybe come very close! After all...it is only 133 finishes to go...and I have one done that I have to post so that takes it to 132....whaddya think?????

Good luck girls ….. Go forth and Sew Many Hugs

October BOM block at last and a Challenge for us all

Ok ladies, here it is.......sorry for being so slack these last couple of months.....what with Dawny being sick and this month it's been me with deadlines to meet......I thought you were supposed to have much more time when you were on sick leave??!!!! It just seems to disappear twice as fast!!!!

Anyways, this (October's) month's block is a Dawn design......she's very talented, our Dawn, and loves Spring and beautiful flowers.....beautiful flowers for a beautiful lady!!!.......so this month is a beautiful vase of flowers you can enjoy each day!

Now, next month's is just around the corner.....I'm apologising in advance!!!!.......my turn and it's my son's 18th birthday on the weekend so I'm in full swing there....SORRY!!!.....the block will only be a couple of days late though so you have a little more time to squeeze in a finish...or two...or three...or......!!!!

By the way......24 finishes this month! (October) which takes us to the grand total of 355 for 2012 to date.

Now, do you remember the goal of 500 for the year??? We're almost there and I know it's a bit of a stretch!!!!.....buuuut.......that IS only 145 to go.......there are 2 months left (well...sort of......I havent counted November yet, and I have given you a couple of extra days in November!!! tee hee) which means about 73 finishes each month.... and seeing as there are 100 of us, if we have 1 finish each month....we'll pass our goal with flying colours!!!!!

Whaddya say???

Let's go for it!

I've a finish up my sleeve for November....how about you!?

Start your engines and sew many hugs

Last month’s gift block

Hi all,

how are you going with your ufo-busting this month???

I’ve got one in the fire and hopefully will be finished by next Thursday….yep, that’s right, NEXT THURSDAY is the last day of May so get those needles working overtime, find yourself a smallish finish to get done (if you haven’t started yet) and posted on the blog to qualify for your free block of the month!

Remember a ufo is one you’ve started BEFORE the 31 Dec 2011 !

I just thought I’d show you last month’s freebie stitched out…..

043 (Medium)

This is another of Dawn’s beautiful designs…..two poppies symbolising Anzac Day on April 25th…..such an important day in Australia and New Zealand, and the Cross behind them symbolising Easter……both representing how much has been given so that we might live.

You’ll notice I varied the stitching as per Dawn’s instructions…..(I do like to be different!!!! LOL)  I added satin stitch to the poppy pods, backstitched the cross and then echoed it with running stitch in gold thread….don’t know if you can see that in the photo but perhaps if you click on it it might show up better?!

This month will be my design month and it’s all ready to go….something special for May…..I wonder if you can guess what it will be?????

Our computers are all going well (touch wood!) so we’ll have no delays in getting them to you this month!

So keep working on reducing those piles …. (of ufo’s, that is!)

Sew many hugs xox
