MY FIRST UFO FINISHED

.

I saw this bag in Homespun magazine n0 64, vol9.9 and decided it would be a gift for myself. I cut it out and then didn't have the time to complete it before xmas, so today I decided to get started with the sewing and it was so easy to do that I finished it before I had to get the dinner ready. That's it for now except to wish everyone a belated Merry Xmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year.
cheers Judy

My first UFO finish

My first UFO to come off my list is my Daisy Do wallhanging (Jenny of Elefantz design).  Jenny's BOM started in July last year, so is one of my newer UFOs.  But not any more - It is now hanging proudly.

Month 6 done!

YAY, I think my pic worked!!
Last night I finished month 6 of my Civil War BOM. I had to do 4 of the block above this month. So, the project is not finished, but I'm halfway through! Just wanted to make sure I can put a pic up!!
I'll be going away for a few weeks so am looking forward to seeing all of those projects when I return (but am not taking a sewing machine so most likely won't have anymore to show for myself, sob, sob)

Jo's 1st

I love New Years, all refreshed and raring to go but every year starts out that way and then I get distracted and all my plans for completing WIPs go out the door as other new ones get added to my list (by the way I'm still yet to formalise a list!). Over the last two days I pulled out a project I started in September 2009. It was put on the back burner because one of the fabrics I chose didn't give the contrast needed. So after lots of unpicking it's now found a life as a completed top, just the quilting to do!
Most of the fabrics are from Moda's range called Blessings and the green is a Judie Rothermal one (I think?)
I hope to add lots more posts to this blog this year and I hope to read about lots of other finishes too!
Good Luck to everyone

1 down...@@@@!!!^#**!! to go

Just showing you my first finish from my list of UFO's (which I still have to post on my blog!!!...oops)

I know....they don't look like much, but if I tell you the story, it will all make sense!!!!

I had bought these curtains with the intention to put them in my kitchen in a rented property I lived in prior to even meeting my husband!!!! (We've been married 7 years this year!!!!!)

I loved the look of gingham but I wanted to 'personalise' it, so I went about sketching flowers and leaves onto the back of vliesofix, ironing it to a variety of fat quarters that appealed to me and cutting them out.....that's where I started to slow down with the idea (I know it doesn't look it, but there are more than 50 there)!!!  There were sooooo many to cut out and my fingers go too sore, not to mention my then 7-year-old wanted to help 'cut'!!!!
So the project got shelved for a while and placed carefully in the cupboard for a later date.....when I had 'more time'!!! (don't we all wish for that??)    I retrieved them a year or so later and got through the cutting stage and even ironed them onto the curtains, but then I met my husband to be and after a while we moved house and yes......it got packed safely away again for 'another time'.

We've moved twice since then and I had completely forgotten about these darling curtains, until I was examining my stash with a fine tooth comb, writing my list and checking it twice just prior to the birth of Sew It's Finished.   As you can see, it didn't need much....just some blanket stitch (and what a good excuse to practice with my new machine!!) and some buttons sewn on, a good wash to rid them of their dusty 'aroma' and an iron and hanging.

And now they proudly adorn my craft room window, which before looked bare and stark.  My room now looks a little more homely, and I have achieved one thing off my list, which otherwise would have remained a WIP or UFO for who knows how long!!!!

I feel an overwhelming sense of accomplishment, getting rid of the past and forging into the future......WOOHOOOO....I'm freeeeeeee!!!!!! (we'll, maybe that's going a little overboard, but.....you know what I mean!!!!)

So, what's your first UFO on your list????

Sew many blessings
XX  Wendy :O)
Well this is the first time I've ever posted to a blog, so let's hope it works!!
I did my first UFO listing at the end of 2008, unfortunately since then I've only completed 11 items from my original list. I tend to start too many new things in between, so this year is going to be different!!!
The first 5 projects I'd like to complete this year are:
  1. Lillibeth's Garden quilt (started in 2006 - a lovely BOM from Applewood Farm, #12 on my list)
  2. Civil War BOM (I subscribed to this last year from Fat Quarter Shop. I'm still yet to receive month 12, but am only up to sewing month 6. This is a present for my hubby so will get it finished for his birthday in November)
  3. Homespun BOM (last year's 'Life is a Celebration' project, I have about 4 months to go on this one as well)
  4. Bagalicious Club projects (signed up for this through Quilt Fabric Delights. I think I have about 2 left to come, but still have 2 I haven't made up yet)
  5. Christmas advent wallhanging (back to my original list #13, started this in 2008 so will definitely be done for Christmas 2011!)
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's UFO's and will hopefully be back soon (when I'll have to work out how to put a pic on here) with a completed item!!

40 + wips....!! OH DEAR!

I have 40 wips... plus lavender heart sachets and a whole pile of coasters... I thought it best not to add those in because they'd add another 30 or so onto the tally!!!

I'm looking forward to working through my wip list! The biggest problem is that I add more to the list than I take off!!

Good luck to everyone this year in trying to work through some long overdue projects!

The one I've chosen right now to finish off is the Keyhole Quilt - I've made it in Swell fabrics (my favourite) and it just needs a wide border, sandwiching (have decided to hand quilt it) and then binding. Better get to the grind!! In the last few days I have finished sewing all the blocks together and gotten it to this stage.
