Another finish

Can't believe I have two finishes in one week. This little stitchery I started last fall and decided it was time to get back at it and finish it .It is a free Friday Freebie from Kaaren at the Painted Quilt , if you are not familiar with her work she is a very talented lady who is very generous with her designs and has several of her freebies available on her blog .
Since I love to color I thought I would add a little to the flower and leaves once the stitching was done and I am pleased with how this looks. Good old colored pencils and crayons ;-)

EXTRA, EXTRA…..!!!!

Hi girls……

just to let you know, for those of you that had a finish last month and received your free block pattern, there was a slight error in it.  Poor Miss Dawn was tearing her hair out running around hell- west and crooked trying to organise herself for her quilty trip/retreat  to Tassie and, after sending the pattern to you all, we discovered the sizing of the designs on the pattern sheets was wrong.    Nobody has emailed yet so I’m guessing no one has tried doing it yet  (which is a good thing….get onto those ufos !!! LOL)

If you did receive your free pattern, just email me and I will forward you the correct pattern sheet for you to add to the design.

Now I know a few of you are panicking that you are not able to finish your ufo’s in time each month….. and with 56 of us not finishing any of our ufo’s yet this year…..

I thought a couple of organisational hints might help…….

I love Cath’s idea of allocating 12 months to do 12 finishes at most….anything else is a bonus!   So……don’t expect to get ALL of your ufo’s done in one year….. as my boss used to say,

“You can’t eat an elephant in one bite!”

elephant sneaking

I like to break this idea down even further……. I created a sort of year overview planner  on an A3 sheet and jotted in things in each month that would take my time like birthdays, weddings, births,  (where I'd have to make things) or times I'm away (perhaps on holiday), and then fitted in ufo's to suit the space I had available......helped sort things out in my head a little better when I'd juggled it around on paper a bit first.    It’s not foolproof as there’s always things that crop up unexpectedly (like sickness and flu), but with a disorganised brain like mine, it helps!

If you think this idea might work for you, you can download a copy of my yearly overview planner here….

My boss also told me……

“if you fail to plan, you plan to fail”!!!!

There’s still 24 days to go in March…..what will be your finished UFO this month???

3rd Finish for 2012

Here is my 3rd finish for the year. I had hoped to finish it in February but didn't quite make it.

I am really happy with it. It turned out really nice and sorry I never finished it earlier. Only took I think between 8 - 10 years to finally finish !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I machine sewed the binding down again. I attach the binding to the back first then sew it
down on the front. It is so much faster than hand sewing down at the back and much faster at
getting these UFOs finished quicker.

Now off to pull out and dust off my next UFO. A bit different in colour scheme than the last 3. More pretty colours and an applique project.

Til next time, Happy Cre8ting

Block 1 ~ Seasons Of

I finally found some threads to match my fabrics and got stitching on the first block.

Block 2 has the borders sewn and stitchery traced ready for threads. Thankyou Wendy and Dawn for these beautiful incentives ... my only dilema is 'what do I have that I can get finished for March?'

Finally a finish

I know it has been a very long time since I have posted anything on this blog , not that I haven't been busy but that I have not finished any UFO'S to speak of , well that all changed yesterday when I finished the Debbie Mumm 2010 BOM , this has been folded in my cabinet for two years until last week I had it machine quilted knowing full well it was never going to happen waiting for me to do it and then yesterday I sewed on the binding ,yippeeeeee a finish .
The photo is not the best as it is a dull damp day here and the lighting in this room is not great for photos , too many windows that casts a dull light. But you can get an idea of what it looks like. Enjoy your day. Sheila

Early March ... and another finish

Wow, I am really on track to do 12 UFO's in 2012 (my own challenge) infact, I might finish more than 12 at this rate!

This quilt is called "Tea or Coffee" and is a Millamac design. I started this as a group class with the designer, Sally, last April and had to miss a couple of classes as I travelled overseas for my holidays.  I never caught up and everyone finished their quilts but mine languished so it is nice to be able to showcase it here.

The blocks are all hand appliqued and the quilt is hand quilted along with gumleaves which I quilted on the border. Here are a couple of close-ups:
These are the kookaburras sharing a cuppa and a laugh!

These emus don't have arms to hold cups so a milkshake with straws is the way to go.  Aren't they glamerous girls?!

I will be putting more pics on my own blog at Bits 'n Bobs

Thank you for looking and thank you to all the inspirational comments I have received on my other finishes.

Block 2 “Seasons of…..”

February’s finishers will have already received their gift of the second block of “Seasons of…”

Last month was Dawn’s month to design, so I spent the afternoon in front of the telly stitching it up.

007 (Medium)

It’s a gorgeous little design, don’t you think?  Full of flowers and hearts….very Valentine-ish..….she’s such a talented gal!

Next month it’s back to my turn to design and I have a little St Paddy’s magic in mind!  Have to wait and see!!!

Keep up the fantastic effort on the finishes……58 for February which was sensational, seeing it was a shorter month (even though it had an extra day!!!)

Now, if only I could keep up with you all!!!!!
