Hooray!

A finish in the nick of time! This quilt I started at least 4 to 5 years ago for my eldest daughter.... and finished it yesterday afternoon. Everything I did was first approved by her... she wanted only in the ditch quilting and that's what I did. Strangely, I always thought a quilt that only has stitch-in-the-ditch quilting is not "quilted"; but that was her choice, she wanted it soft and comfy! That's what I did! I used Quilters Dream Wool batting and one can actually see on the photo the puffiness of the quilt.

She is leaving home soon (the 10th of January) to go to University (almost a 1000 miles from home!)

and at least she has a quilt! I am very happy with the end result AND it is a FINISH for November!

Last of the month

I gave myself a pinch and a punch for the (second to) last of the month when I read Wendy's email about getting to 500 finishes. DH went off to night shift and I did my own night shift in my sewing room: I found the UFO bag with my discarded attempt at Storm at Sea in a 'flaming' colourway. after I had reread the instructions it was quite easy to make it 4 square in a square in a square blocks with the smaller sq in a sq. I found some (almost) matching black left overs (slightly too narrow but I have gotten good at cheating ;D). I turned out to approx. 50cm square after addition of some golden ribbon to one corner so I added some black moda to the back to make it a cushion cover (I have to admit, I don't have a matching pillow inner yet, DH looked for one locally today but no such luck).
The quilting is from Leah Day's FMQA, I think it's the sunflower (how does she get all her lines so straight?).
I like the 'brightness' of the finished result and hopefully it will get an inner soon! I have made a lot of cushion covers this year, I won't need any next year I suppose... Finish No. 18 I think :-)

November Finishe

Last month I finished a table topper that I had started September of 2011.  I actually had made two but couldn't get the other one finished last month.....BUT, I am happy to report that topper number two is now complete (pictured on top)!!!!!  Thanks again Wendy and Dawn.....now on to helping our group reach our goal of 500 finishes for the year!!!!

UFO for November

My GD’s friend recently had a little boy and I thought it would be nice to make him a quilt.

Sew I went to my UFO box and found a flimsy that I could sandwich and quilt….

Today I was able to give Tyler his quilt and it is another UFO done and the 15th for the year

November Finish

I missed the deadline over at the SAL blog, but my "My Favourite Things" quilt from the book Some Kind of Wonderful by Anni Downs is finished - label and all.

The label is one of the block I made and then didn't include.  Along the way a lot of us changed blocks to suit ourselves.  This one should have been "Sunshine on my Face" - not really one of my favourite things so it became the label.

This project was not really ever at risk of becoming a UFO - we had deadlines to meet and a lot of encouragement from the SAL web master (or the Whip cracker as we called her) and all the other bloggers.

Now time to organise the December project  . .

Come on everyone - we don't need many more to get to 500 for the year!!

October BOM block at last and a Challenge for us all

Ok ladies, here it is.......sorry for being so slack these last couple of months.....what with Dawny being sick and this month it's been me with deadlines to meet......I thought you were supposed to have much more time when you were on sick leave??!!!! It just seems to disappear twice as fast!!!!

001 (Medium)

Anyways, this (October's) month's block is a Dawn design......she's very talented, our Dawn, and loves Spring and beautiful flowers.....beautiful flowers for a beautiful lady!!!.......so this month is a beautiful vase of flowers you can enjoy each day!

Now, next month's is just around the corner.....I'm apologising in advance!!!!.......my turn and it's my son's 18th birthday on the weekend so I'm in full swing there....SORRY!!!.....the block will only be a couple of days late though so you have a little more time to squeeze in a finish...or two...or three...or......!!!!

By the way......24 finishes this month! (October) which takes us to the grand total of 355 for 2012 to date.

Now, do you remember the goal of 500 for the year??? We're almost there and I know it's a bit of a stretch!!!!.....buuuut.......that IS only 145 to go.......there are 2 months left (well...sort of......I havent counted November yet, and I have given you a couple of extra days in November!!! tee hee) which means about 73 finishes each month.... and seeing as there are 100 of us, if we have 1 finish each month....we'll pass our goal with flying colours!!!!!

Whaddya say???

Let's go for it!

I've a finish up my sleeve for November....how about you!?

Start your engines and sew many hugs

18th Finish

I purchased this kit over a year ago when attending a Kansas Troubles Club.  I loved the sunflowers and the little button detail and cut out the fabric and....  Well I signed up for a Pay it Forward and I decided this would be perfect!  I love the pattern and and thought it would be great to send to Portugal...Sunflowers - so 'Midwest'.  The sewing and quilting went well.  The teeny tiny little buttons were hard to sew in a circle but I was happy with the result.

This week I hope to catch up reading all the 'Sew Its Finished' posts.
