Wish Quilt

Now that I have finished the emergency sewing for the sewing kits for the Queensland Flood Appeal, I am making good progress on my first UFO on my looooooooooong list.

I still have a little way to go to get the blocks together. I am putting this together completely different to the original layout as I don't have many large walls or spaces to hang largish quilts
so I have had to make this smaller. But there is trial an error in prepping the different blocks
to get them all to fit in together size wise. Definitely and improvisational way of quilting.

I think it is coming along quite nicely and I'm happy with the colour although probably not a real traditional christmas colour scheme but I have seen this used and I really like it.

There are a lot of you getting things completed which is great to see.

I must confess...

My first finish wasn't on my list. But last week I changed priorities and started to make a new beginnings sewing kit so I can help someone in Australia.
In my opion it's a wonderful idea from the gum tree designers!

A few years ago my things were stolen on the last day of the holiday. It's always awfull when something like that happens but the worst thing to me was the fact that my bag contained a patchwork top and my sewing things. I could handle the laptop, the holidaypictures that were lost, favorite clothes but my patchworkthings... that was the most difficult.
I guess this is why I had so much joy and pleasure in designing and making this sewing kit, the feeling that you can make someone happy.

I wanted to make something special and something that most people would like.

I proudly present : Felix the sewing caddy (or catty?)

And after sending this one to Jenny I will behave better and go on with my UFO's.

Christmas Folders

This is quite a new UFO.  Last year through Among the Gum Trees,  Fee of Designs by Fee gave the pattern for Christmas folders.  I did the embroideries straight away but that was as far as it got as I worked on other Christmas projects. The time ran out and I didnt finish them.
But I am pleased to say they are now done - and took very little time to finish.  Thank you Fee for such a beautiful project and such well written instructions.  I love them.

I used left over strips for the cover of the second one.
Now I have 11 months to fill them with favourite recipes and Christmas goodies.  And it is a really early bird Christmas gift.
