Finishes 4, 5 and 6!!!

FINALLY! I finished our RUFFLE quilts! I first saw this idea here and started collecting those beautiful vintage sheets for our throws. I was making one for both girls and one for myself so we could all sit and watch movies with our 'girly quilts'. My plan was to give these to my girls for Christmas in 2010 but I quit sewing on them because I hurt my back. I was so discouraged that I couldn't give these to my girls that I put them in a laundry basket and there they stayed. I had everything cut and ready to start sewing.

In my Year of FINISHED UFO's~ this one was one of high priority to me. I sewed ruffles and more ruffles and more ruffles! I broke needles because my ruffler was so busy, it would jiggle the alignment off and my needle would hit metal or the sheets were too dense and I didn't want to slow down! I had tension issues, thread breaking, sewer problems and many other 'life issues' come at me all at once while working on these for the past week--- but I did it! I finished our ruffle quilts! I am in love with each one all for different reasons! Sew-- here they are:

I learned-- sew on ONE ruffle at a time and pin the next one!

Finish #3!!!

I was lying in bed looking in the top of my closet and saw the 'dreaded' quilt that I have shuffled around for the last 10 years.... or so. Since I have declared this year the "Year of UFO's" I pulled it down... again. I looked at it and wondered once again why I thought this was so frustrating I threw it in the closet. Then~ I remembered! The back kept shifting. So I kept ripping it out. And resewing and ripping.... and 'storing it for later'. And so the pattern went.

It was an easy finish (sort of) and I was determined to do it! So... a few days ago- I sewed and ripped and sewed. I like things perfect- so I couldn't LEAVE it! I think the problem stemmed from this being the FIRST EVER quilt I quilted myself AND the heavy batting AND the 74x74ish size... who would have thought that they could quilt a quilt of this size and weight on their short arm? Oh yeah-- ME!

I thought it ironic that this line was so appropriately named for MY quilt: Attic Treasures by Brannock and Patek. Sew~ this is MY attic treasure!

I started it 10 years (or so) ago and ONLY had to finish quilting in the ditch around the red border, quilt the black and get the binding on. Sew, that is what I did one day! All in all-- it was never as bad as I thought- but a few lessons learned and great victory won in this finish!!

First post and some finished UFO's!

I am going to try this and see what happens!

I started decluttering the house and could NOT part with any of my sewing stuff! Lo & behold, I found PLENTY of UFO's in those tubs that I decided I *have to finish them! Starting with the most recent "halos of guilt" I decided to tackle my daughters' quilts that I started the summer of 2011 when they went to camp.

I started with the smaller of my daughters' quilts. My younger daughter wanted a zigzag quilt and likes teal. Since I fell in love with the "Summer House by Lily Ashbury" line-- I just had to use those fabrics! Next time-- I will order more charm packs... but you live and learn!

This is my older daughter's

quilt. She loves pink! Recently, we painted her room pink & black, so I made this quilt as a personal touch to her room. I am THRILLED I have finally finished this quilt! Most importantly, she is too!

I have recently taken up finishing 3- YES, THREE - ruffle quilts out of vintage sheets. I will be so relieved when those are done!
