Super simple apron

I have a last minute finish for April. I've had several towels my boys picked out to make aprons since last fall. I had cut up one only to find that the towels were too small for the pattern I had. After searching for a while, I just gave up and made my own "pattern". It's a super-simple apron, but it will work and the boys are exicited about it since they picked the towels. Works for me!

Finally Finished!

This quilt was hand pieced in 1985 as a block of the month and was my second quilting/piecing project.  (The first one was four blocks from a beginners class...which never was finished.)  My mom started quilting it for me but she passed away in 1987.  I finally pulled the quilt back out and had it quilted.  Dan did a fabulous job - every block has a different quilting pattern and the borders are gorgeous!

I finished binding just in time to post this month.  It's been cold here and every time I sat down after to work with my quilt to bind, I wound up taking a nap!  It's so warm and cozy!!!

Finish For The Month

I am hopping in here with a quick finish for the month.  It's kind of embarrassing to say, but I started this a couple years ago.  Why I sat it aside, I have no idea, but now it's quilted and the binding is on.
As always, thanks to Wendy and Dawn for this wonderful group.

A spotty finish ;)

I have managed another finish for 2013 - this is from my Misc List of bits and pieces (orphan blocks)

this is all I can show you for now, as it is a gift
and I want to wait until the recipient gets it before the big reveal.

Cheers, Cathy

two in one month??….unbelievable!

Is it new Year Resolutions, boredom or finally some organisation taking hold?????  I have my SECOND UFO finished for the month of January!!!  Hard to believe but true!!!!

Well, ok….it was an easy one…..but aren’t most of our UFOs easy ones to finish??  a bit of binding here, a few stitches there?

Mine was a small and simple kit I’ve had cut out for about 5 years, just sitting patiently there waiting for me to do it……and you know….it only took about an hour all up!

017 (Medium)018 (Medium)019 (Medium)020 (Medium)

….and now I have a great little thread bin to sit beside me at the sewing machine…..too easy!  Don’t know why I didn’t do it earlier!!!???!!!   mmmmmmm!!!!!

Sew many hugs xox

!st and 2nd finish

Well I have made a start on my UFO's.

This table runner has been waiting to be finished for around 18 months.  The blocks were made I just needed to sew it together, quilt and bind it.  I kept the quilting simple and it only took me around 2 2/3 hours to complete.

3 hand towels that just needed a little finishing.  The pink one only needed the button hole sewn and the button sewn on. The brown tops were sewn and the towels were gathered/pleated they just needed to be sewn together.
This is just the start of the 8 hand towels I have planned, most are just cut out but a few tops have been sewn together but not attached to the towels.

Right now I am working on the arm chair covers that have been in the making for about 5 years, which is ridiculous as all I had to do was sew a backing on the already cut fabric form when we had the lounges covered.  I also have a wall hanging sandwiched together that I hope to quilt in the next week or so.

A little finish

This is not a UFO, but a project started last week and completed last night, but it still is a finish.
Initial heart swap
I am playing along with Cheryll in her Initial heart swap and this is the heart I am sending to my partner.
As my name starts with an S and my guess so does a lot of other ladies playing in the swap they will have to wait and see who its for.
I had fun making this pretty little project

A good start

Here is No 2 UFO for the year - the Market Day Wallet.  I started this one after I bought it at Mad Quilters Gathering last May.  I didnt get far then, so for Friday Night with Friends sewing I prepared the applique and sorted out fabrics for the parts I still needed.

I have been making it through the week, and while the tennis final was on this afternoon I sat and did the hand stitching.

Most of it went together very well, though I found the directions for putting in the zip and doing the binding could have been better explained and additional pictures or diagrams would have helped.  I have been thinking about it while stitching and think I may have worked out a better way.  Now I will have to make another to test it out.  My zip must be wrong at one end as it doesnt open as well as the pic on the pattern.  Still, I am happy with it overall.
Aahhh.  The zip was a bit caught up in the binding, so it opens a bit better now.
