Ironing, eek...

It's OK everyone I haven't turned into a domestic goddess.  I was fiddling around one day with a scrappy quilt tutorial and I found I had lots of 2" scrappy strips left over.  I was going to make a machine cover but whilst ironing them I was a little ashamed of the cover on my mini ironing board so I decided to make a template from the old cover and voila! a patchwork ironing board cover which looks very pretty propped against my 'playpen' wall and so 70's. Cheers

Epic fail…

I have cut and pasted this post from my blog to let you know why you haven’t seen April’s results yet……..here goes…….

“I have been trying and trying to get onto the internet today, even via my mobile, but it just wouldn’t go….I thought they might have been working on the line as they’ve put a new 4G tower up nearby, so I held off and just kept trying.

online

After 6pm tonight, I realised there was something not quite right so I rang the phone company…….your phone has been restricted as the bill amount of $48 has not been paid, was the answer……only problem was, it was their fault I had the bill in the first place due to a billing credit error so, after an hour on the phone yesterday sorting it out and being given a guaranteed 2 weeks to pay and having a very ‘hearty’ conversation with the girl on the other end of the line tonight again, who told me I must ensure I pay it by tomorrow morning or else it would be disconnected again, I finally got my line back!

Needless to say….I AM NOT HAPPY, JAN!!!!!

Epic fail for you, phone company!!!!!!

But…..rant over…….point of the story is………

a year full of blooms button 1

I am sincerely apologising for not posting and emailing April’s BOM tonight as the young girl from the phone company in a neighbouring country has worn me out….I’m off to bed!   I promise it will be drawn tomorrow…..after I come home from visiting a very special stitchy friend in Townsville! That will make me smile again! *wink*

First May Finishes

It's the first of May so I thought I would post a couple of the little quilts I have completed from the Monthly Mini club at Temecula Quilt Co.
This first one is called Lucky Little Clover

                                     and this is Simple Star.
Every month I get a little brown bag in the mail with a different quilt in it.
My years commitment  is almost over and it's a good thing because I am running out of space for all these cute little quilts.
Hope your finishes are coming along.

Super simple apron

I have a last minute finish for April. I've had several towels my boys picked out to make aprons since last fall. I had cut up one only to find that the towels were too small for the pattern I had. After searching for a while, I just gave up and made my own "pattern". It's a super-simple apron, but it will work and the boys are exicited about it since they picked the towels. Works for me!

My oh my, I have an April finish!!!!!

…and the worst thing is, I finished it a couple of weeks ago, and I just haven’t gotten around to posting about it!!!

This is a mystery quilt I made in an online forum from the Quilt Pattern Magazine, which I subscribe to….it’s A Winter Mystery Quilt, but even living in the tropical north of Australia, my mind reads ‘Christmas”……subliminal brainwashing perhaps????

Well, I started this last year with the intent on having it done for Christmas, but……………….  well, you know the rest?   It got to the part where you had to use the blocks to design your own pattern and well…….I just kept those little bitty blocks in their crisp plastic packets didn’t I????

I finally got up the nerve to tackle the designing process and here is the result….

Finally I get to show you a finish of my own!

6th & 7th Finish

I managed to finish two more UFO's in April and made a good dent in another. This was mainly due to the starting of a weekly Friday night sewing group.  I had these finished last week but have not had time to post this b4 now.....

These handtowels are the last that had been cut out and wanting to be finished since last October.  two of these are heading to my forum friend Shirley.  She made me a few dish towels and i was making her handtowels in return.

I have had this Authentic charm pack for many years and last year finally planned to make it into this tablerunner, using half triangle squares and sashing.  When I started to sew the 1/2 triangle squares into rows I realised I had enough to make two tablerunners.  The other tablerunner will be made in the near future as a gift or maybe even a swap.

And finally a sneak preview of a UFO that has been 7 years in the making, a Row X Row wall hanging.  I finally quilted it and am on the tail end of hand stitching the binding down.  I should have it finished in the next few days so stand by for the finished wall hanging........

Sew.... It's Finished

April was a crazy month for me, but I am slipping in under the wire with one of my finished projects for the month.

I love sewing for the little ones in the family and this month I made a little sundress for a first birthday.  I fell in love with the fabrics and I think it will look darling on our GD for the summer.

As well I made a skirt for another granddaughter.

Several more granddaughters came over and made themselves peasant dress costumes for their school play this weekend.

Sew.....it's finished.
